The Office for National Statistics releases provisional full year data in April of each year, with ‘final’ figures being released by August.

Market Statistics

This Excel file provides figures on the number of visits, ngihts and spend by market, along with percentage shares, for each of the following visitor or trip characteristics; purpose of visit, duration of stay, mode of travel, quarter of year and age.

Full Year Data for 2007

This Excel file, in the form of a pivot-table, provides information on visits, visitor nights and visitor spending for all the main International Passenger Survey variables such as country of residence, journey purpose, duration of stay and so on.

Activities

This Excel file, in the form of a pivot-table, provides information on how many visitors actually particiapted in various activities when they came to the UK.  Data covered includes travelling group, age, gender, length of stay, purpose of visit, quarter, and country of residence.  Data can be viewed in percentage or absolute terms.  Further info on activities can be found on the 'Topic Reports' page.

Accommodation

This Excel file, in the form of a pivot-table, provides information on the type of accommodation used by inbound visitors who stay in the UK for at least one night.   Data covered includes journey purpose, country of residence, duration of stay and mode of travel.

States of Residence

Each year VisitBritain sponsors additional questions in the International Passenger Survey.   One of these questions provides information about where visitors from four separate markets live within their home country.   This Excel file shows the number of visits, visitor nights and visitor spending by ‘State of Residence’ for Germany, Irish Republic, Canada, and Japan in 2007.
