| Useful insights to the Dutch Business Visits & Events Market | A summary of the key findings of Business Travel Monitor 2005, conducted by CVO (Continuous Holiday Survey).
Overall - In the period from October 2004 to September 2005 almost 1 million Dutch people made business trips abroad (1 or more business trips).
- 44% of all the business travellers are working in the commercial service industry.
- Almost 1 million business travellers made an average of 5.5 trips each in 2005, which means about 5,5 million business trips.
- 28% of the business trips concerned meetings. 19% of the business trips concerned conferences, courses and congresses.
- 72% of the information gathered for business trips was done via the Internet (Google was the most popular search engine used)
- 73% of the business travellers who are booking by Internet are looking for hotels, 70% are looking for flights.
- 7 out of 10 business travellers who are searching on the Internet are booking a trip via the Internet, or at least a part of it.
- Carlson Wagonlit, ATP and Globe Business Travel are the agencies used most by the Dutch for booking business trips
Business Visits to Britain - 75% of the business trips made by the Dutch were to Europe. Most of the business trips were made to Germany (25%) and 14% visited Britain for business.
- In the commercial service industry more business travellers went to Britain compared to Germany.
- 47% of business trips were made to London, with Manchester being the second most popular destination in Britain.
- 81% of business trips to Britain were made by aeroplane, 6% by car, 2% by train and 11% using other modes of transport.
- The average amount of time spent in Britain is 3 or 4 days.
- 67% of the flights were from Schiphol Airport, 16% from Rotterdam.
Commercial service industry- 92% fly with KLM
- 84% are booking their business trip via Thomas Cook
- Most business trips were made in October
- 11% have a subscription with De Telegraaf (newspaper)
- 49% regularly read Kampioen (ANWB)
