Partners for England

The Partners for England initiative was launched in 2005 with an objective of bringing together the stakeholders in England’s visitor economy to forge a new partnership to face the challenges of an ever evolving industry.

Conceived by Hugh Taylor (EMAB/Hilton) and Juliet Williams (South West of England RDA) with the support of Tom Wright at VisitBritain, the initiative has led to three high level summits. These   ground breaking fora have addressed the key issues surrounding the better management and marketing of the tourism industry in England.   Particular emphasis has been placed on the national, regional and local tourism interfaces and the pursuit of economies of scale in all their dimensions.

Proposals made at the 2007 Summit form a plan for action in four key areas:

  • Leadership
  • Development of a Charter for Destination Management
  • The alignment of Tourism Marketing
  • Improving the quality of tourism data
