There are details about both the VisitBritain and VisitEngland Boards on these pages, including short biographies about the members, and links to meeting dates and minutes. VisitBritain's Board members are appointed by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in accordance with the terms of the Development of Tourism Act 1969. The Act provides for the Board to consist of a Chairman and up to five other members, plus the Chairmen of VisitScotland, the Welsh Assembly Government Tourism Advisory Panel and the VisitEngland Board, acting in an ex-officio capacity. The Chairmen of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Visit London also attend Board meetings as observers by invitation from the Chairman of VisitBritain. VisitEngland is the stakeholder Board for the development and marketing of England’s visitor economy. With its executive team within VisitBritain, and in partnership with the regional and local tourism bodies through Partners for England, VisitEngland has responsibility for delivering an effective and well-coordinated tourism strategy for England.
