Britain’s flagship ‘gateway’ Visitor Centre, the Britain & London Visitor Centre (BLVC), welcomes around half a million independent travellers each year from all over the world. We know they typically pay us a visit at the start of their trip with the express intention of picking up ideas for additional places to visit and things to do in London and the rest of Britain. That ability to inspire and make firm travel plans from a single location makes us a must-visit destination. To assist their planning, we have a range of brochure racks and digital media displays, which are proven to be effective in influencing visitor choice. Display space here is available for rental by the travel trade either to seek long-term ‘presence’ or for shorter campaigns. At the same time, we recognise that human intervention is key to influencing travel plans, and we place huge importance on our staff’s training in product knowledge, communication and persuasion skills. Recognising that familiarity with product breeds advocacy, we encourage all our travel trade clients to join in our programme of product knowledge sessions. BLVC won Visit London’s coveted TIC of the Year award for 2006 because of our commitment to customer care, and the range of travel facilities available. Our customer feedback and mystery shopper programmes also confirm that visitors consider our staff to be very authoritative and the range of onward accommodation and travel ticketing facilities to be comprehensive. With considerable strategic support from Visit London and VisitBritain, we truly believe we are the best-equipped outlet to reach this sizeable information-hungry market at the moment of maximum impact. Our programme of marketing and promotional activities has been designed specifically to enable the travel industry to engage our customers at every point of contact with the customer.
