An exciting new £1.2 million Enjoy England domestic tourism campaign launches today aiming to increase awareness of England as a fun and indulgent option for a short break or holiday and to inspire Britons to rediscover the secret pleasure of having a break in England as part of their holiday plans.
The campaign is spearheaded by a new TV advert that inspires viewers to 'Discover the secrets of England's best short breaks' which airs for the first time on Monday 18th September - but you can view a preview here today! Enjoy England has secured The Jam track English Rose as the soundtrack to the new television campaign. The lyrics of the song include the lines: “No matter where I roam/I will come back to my English rose”. The 40- and 10-second adverts will run on prime-time terrestrial and satellite television during September and October and again between January and March, when the 2007 'Enjoy England Great Ideas' brochure launches.
The TV campaign is supported by a multi-media campaign including a series of advertorials in selected consumer lifestyle magazines between September and January - 'Now', 'Reveal' and 'Company' - inviting readers to share their own secret destinations; an outdoor poster campaign across London’s underground network and east coast mainline through September - October with train operator GNER, radio advertising, direct mail, national press supplements with The Independent and The Times in September and January and online advertising for the duration of the campaign.
Tourist Information Centres - fonts of local knowledge and undiscovered delights - around the country will also be encouraged to support the campaign with window displays and half a million ‘shhh…’ bags to give to customers.
Increases in positive perceptions of England as a holiday destination and in business generated for England's' tourism industry as a result of the campaign will be tracked and monitored and we look forward to sharing the results in a future bulletin.
