National & Regional Statutory Tourism Bodies

There are a number of bodies in the UK with a statutory responsibility for tourism at the national and regional level: the National Tourist Organisations (NTO) of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the Regional Development Agencies (RDA) and their regional delivery partners (RDP) in the nine English regions. We also maintain strategic relations with our Offshore Partners in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Marketing agreements and memoranda of understanding provide a formal framework for co-operation between VisitBritain and its strategic partners, who exist to promote their own country or region in a competing global arena.

There are also smaller, sub-regional bodies marketing a specific English destination, often referred to as Destination Management Organisations (DMO). In terms of structure, they are often autonomous organisations working within a regional framework.

In working closely with these partners we aim to ensure that limited resources in marketing England and Britain are deployed cost-effectively, target markets and segments are agreed, and that overseas customers receive unified and complementary messages about Britain.

For further information, how to contact them and news from VisitBritain's strategic partners, please follow the links below.
